Avalanche team scope

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog will return against the Montreal Canadiens after missing 10 games because of a lower-body injury. "I'm excited to be back and I feel good," Landeskog said after an optional morning skate at Bell Centre. "This is one of the best buildings in the League, especially on a Saturday night, so it will be fun. But put all that aside, we came here to get two points and that's what we're going to try to do." Right wing Jarome Iginla will play his 1,500th game. "That's a lot of sticks taped and a lot of skates tied, so it's really hard to wrap your head around really how many games he's got," Landeskog said. "I don't even know how many guys we've got with 500 games in this team. I'm sure we've got a handful but that's about it, and then to triple that, that's a lot of morning skates, a lot of practices, so good for [Iginla]." Defenseman Francois Beauchemin ranks second on the Avalanche with 780 games. "That's pretty impressive," Beauchemin said of Iginla's milestone. "There's a little bit of luck, obviously, with injuries and whatnot, but that's a great accomplishment. Just the way he plays the game, too; he plays hard, so that's a great number."

Canadiens team scope

Montreal Canadiens coach Michel Therrien will not make any changes to the lineup that had a season-high 49 shots on goal in a 5-2 home win against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday. "I have no reason to remove anyone from the lineup after the way we played against the Devils," Therrien said after the morning skate in Brossard, Quebec. Captain Max Pacioretty will continue to play on the left side with right wing Alex Radulov, who has 21 points in 25 games. "I like playing with him a lot," Pacioretty said. "I think everyone who has played with him has had the same reaction, he's a great player. I said before the year that he could be one of the top skill guys in the world and people kind of laughed at me but I think people are agreeing now. It's amazing what he does protecting the puck down low, and it makes it really easy on his linemates."

Status report

Pickard will make his second straight start after making 29 saves in Colorado's 4-2 win at the Boston Bruins on Thursday. "We liked what he did last game, obviously," coach Jared Bednar said. "If you look at the difference in the hockey game, the chances were pretty even pretty even and [Pickard] gave us the big save when we needed it and probably outplayed their guy in nets and ended up getting us the win." ... McCarron and Barberio, who were recalled from St. Johns of the American Hockey League on Friday, did not take part in the morning skate and will not play.
