Charlie Coyle scored a hat trick, and Alex Stalock made 16 saves to help the Minnesota Wild defeat the Colorado Avalanche 7-0 at Xcel Energy Center.
Coyle scored two goals in the second period when the Wild scored three times to take a 4-0 lead. Mikko Koivu made it 5-0 28 seconds into the third period, and Coyle scored his third at 2:15 for a 6-0 lead. Zach Parise's power-play goal at 13:09 increased Minnesota's advantage to 7-0. The Wild took a 1-0 lead on Jason Zucker's goal 8:32 into the first period, and Matt Read made it 2-0 at 3:18 of the second. Philipp Grubauer made 26 saves for the Avalanche.
