The 31-year-old forward had 33 points (11 goals, 22 assists) in 75 games for the Blackhawks this season, his first with the team after he was acquired in a trade with the Seattle Kraken on June 21, 2025.
Burakovsky is entering the last of a five-year, $27.5 million contract ($5.5 million average annual value) he signed with Seattle on July 13, 2022, and can become an unrestricted free agent after next season.
Selected by the Washington Capitals in the first round (No. 23) of the 2013 NHL Draft, Burakovsky has 420 points (164 goals, 256 assists) in 771 regular-season games for the Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, Kraken and Blackhawks.
He has 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists) in 93 Stanley Cup Playoff games and won the Cup with the Capitals in 2018 and Avalanche in 2022.

On Friday, Ottawa also acquired goalie Samuel Ersson from the Toronto Maple Leafs for a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
The Senators traded forward and their captain Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers on Sunday for the No. 9 and No. 25 pick in the 2026 draft, a first-round pick (conditional) in the 2029 NHL Draft and a second-round pick in the 2027 draft.
