Jets celebrating community hockey through Official Backyard Rink contest

WINNIPEG, Feb. 14, 2022 -The Winnipeg Jets are celebrating Canada's favourite winter pastime by searching for the best backyard rinks with their Winnipeg Jets Official Backyard Rink contest which opens today. Home ice makers will have one week to enter their outdoor ice creations to the contest that closes on Monday, Feb. 21 at 11:59 p.m. CT.
A total of 12 winning rinks will be selected from submissions made at
WinnipegJets.com/BackyardRink
. Entrants will need to submit a written answer about why their backyard rink deserves to be selected along with a photo of their rink. Fans are encouraged to show off their rinks on social media using the hashtag #JetsBackyardRink and Winnipeg Jets accounts will share some of their favourites.

More than just bragging rights will be on the line for winners. Though many rinks may already include lights, boards, painted lines, and more, each winner will receive all they need to show their Jets pride on their rink in the form of official Winnipeg Jets game pucks, an autographed Jets jersey, Jets signage for the rink, and a visit from Mick E. Moose and the community promotions team.
"Backyard rinks are where every kid can dream of scoring goals like Kyle Connor or making saves like Connor Hellebuyck, but more importantly, they're a place where communities gather," said Jets Community Relations Manager Kory Harnum. "Passion for hockey is what unites our community, and we see that every game at Canada Life Centre as well as through the care so many people in our community put into creating their own backyard rinks."
Winners of the Winnipeg Jets Official Backyard Rink contest will be selected and notified the week of Feb. 21. Only winners will be contacted.
