Rapid Recap: Predators 5, Islanders 4

The New York Islanders fell 5-4 to the Nashville Predators on Thursday, their eighth consecutive loss against the Predators.
Adam Pelech, Kyle Palmieri, Jean Gabriel Pageau and Cal Clutterbuck scored for the Islanders, while Filip Forsberg, Colton Sissons, Juuso Parssinen (2G, 1A) and Nino Niederreiter scored for the Predators. Roman Josi had a four-point game.
The loss snapped the Islanders' two-game winning streak.

First Period
1:03 - NSH 1, NYI 0 - Filip Forsberg scores on a rebound of a Roman Josi point shot after his wraparound attempt was denied. Juuso Parssinen picks up his first career NHL assist on the play.
2:43 - NYI 1, NSH 1 - Adam Pelech's point shot deflects off Dante Fabbro's stick and into the net. Ryan Pulock earns the assist.
8:43 - NSH 2, NYI 1 - Colton Sissons tips in a cross-ice pass from Cole Smith. Roman Josi also picked up an assist.
9:41 - NSH 3, NYI 1 - Nino Niederreiter scores with a wrister from the right circle. Ryan McDonagh and Roman Josi earn the assists.
Second Period:
5:01 - NSH 4, NYI 1 - Juuso Parssinen buries a rebound in the slot for his second point of the game. Filip Forsberg and Dante Fabbro pick up the assists.
15:41 - NSH 4, NYI 2 - Adam Pelech's point shot deflects off Matt Martin and then Cal Clutterbuck before finding the back of the net.
Third Period:
4:32 - NSH 4, NYI 3 - Jean-Gabriel Pageau feeds Kyle Palmieri in the slot from behind the net and Palmieri converts. Alexander Romanov picks up the secondary assist.
9:52 - NSH 5, NYI 3 - Juuso Parssinen deflects a Mikael Granlund shot for his second of the game on the power play. Roman Josi earns the secondary assist.
15:39 - NSH 5, NYI 4 - Jean-Gabriel Pageau picks up an Anders Lee between-the-legs effort and gets the puck past Juuse Saros. Mathew Barzal also earns an assist.

NOTEBOOK:

The Islanders conceded the first goal for the 12th time in 18 games... They fall to 5-7-0 when conceding the first goal... Adam Pelech's goal was the 15th scored by an Islander defenseman, the most in the NHL... The game was Pelech's third two-point game of the season. Pelech has more two-point games this year than one-point games (two)… Josh Bailey remained out of the lineup for the second consecutive game... The Islanders allowed a power play goal for the tenth time in the last 10 games... GOALTENDING BATTLE:

Ilya Sorokin stopped 26 of 31 shots in the loss.
Juuse Saros stopped 29 of 33 shots in the win.

The Islanders went 1-for-3 on the power play and 2-for-3 on the penalty kill.
