The New York Islanders returned to action with some energy after the eight-day break, beating the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 on Monday night for their third consecutive win.
Kyle Palmieri buried a goal in the first period, while Mat Barzal followed up with a goal in the second frame to power the offense for the Isles. Nicolas Deslauriers scored the lone tally for the Flyers, as the Islanders were able to hold on to win 2-1.
Semyon Varlamov made 25 saves in the victory, winning his second consecutive game between the pipes.

1st Period:
17:07 NYI 1, PHI 0 PPG - Josh Bailey dishes the puck to Kyle Palmieri, who loads up a wrist shot from the dot to beat Carter Hart glove-side. Sebastian Aho tallies the assist.

8:18 NYI 2, PHI 0 - After a battle for the puck against the boards, Noah Dobson receives a pass in the high slot from Brock Nelson. Dobson fires a one-timer toward the net which finds Mathew Barzal, who deflects it past Hart to double the Islanders lead.

10:39 NYI 2, PHI 1 - The Flyers retaliate 2:21 after Barzal's goal, as Tony DeAngelo wrists a long shot from the point, which deflects off Nicolas Deslauriers to beat Semyon Varlamov through traffic. Nick Seeler picks up the secondary assist.

Bo Horvat took a team-high four shots in his first game as an Islander... The line combination of Bailey, Horvat and Barzal took a total 10 shots...
