The New York Islanders take on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night at UBS Arena. It marks the first meeting of the season between the Isles and Pens and the first time since the two teams clashed during last year's postseason, where the Islanders won the First-Round series 4-2.
The Islanders enter the contest on a seven-game losing skid and have faced substantial hits to their lineup due to a COVID-19 outbreak and injuries. Their lineup was without eight regulars in their 4-1 loss to the New York Rangers on Wednesday night.

Despite the tough go as of late, the Islanders are solely focused on their next opportunity to break the pointless stretch and get their first win on home ice at UBS Arena. Friday is the final game of the Islanders' four-game homestand at UBS Arena.
"I'd like to see us get a victory in this building," Islanders Head Coach Barry Trotz said. "Our fans deserve that, and we need it for ourselves; for the standings, for a little bit of confidence in this building... There's no quit in the team, that's for sure. They are giving it everything they have. We've just got to find a way to get a point, get two points, get our lineup together and dig ourselves out. It's been done before."
Pittsburgh is riding a four-game winning streak with its most recent victory taking place on Wednesday with a 4-1 result over Vancouver. Bryan Rust, Evan Rodrigues, Zach Aston-Reese and Brock McGinn all scored while Tristan Jarry made 36 saves on 37 shots in the win.
