CALGARY - When the Flames hit the ice on Tuesday, they were without rookie defenceman Juuso Valimaki.
The 20-year-old suffered a lower-body injury last week and was listed as day-to-day initially. After today's practice, head coach Bill Peters confirmed his status had changed.
"Valimaki is going to be a bit longer term. He's week-to-week. We'll go from there."

In response to Valimaki's injury, the Flames recalled Oliver Kylington from Stockton on Friday. The Swedish rearguard has been a key contributor for the Heat, scoring 7 goals and 14 points in 18 skates this season.
He made his 2018-19 debut with the Flames on Sunday, blocking three shots in his 13:49 of ice time.
"I think he had real good composure as the game wore along. You could really see his skating - his skating with and without the puck. His gaps were real good," Peters assessed.
"He plays the way we want to play. He's been good down in the American Hockey League. Now, we've got two games at home and we should be able to play him some good minutes. He'll get better and better as he goes along."
Michael Frolik also missed practice with a lower-body injury but he has made strides and is getting closer to returning.
"Fro skated today, still day-to-day," Peters confirmed, noting the winger hit the ice by himself prior to the team's practice.
It is good news on the injury front for Peters himself. The coach took a puck to the face in Arizona on Sunday, forcing him to leave the bench to get stitched.
The gash on his chin is definitely noticeable right now but it looks far more painful than it is.
"Good. Really good actually, better than I thought it would be. No limitations, green light - go."
