Parsons to start for USA in WJC semi-final

Flames prospect Tyler Parsons will be in net for today's WJC semi-final match-up between the USA and Russia

As per NHL.com writer Mike Morreale, Calgary Flames prospect Tyler Parsons will get the start in net when the USA takes on Russia in today's 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship semi-final at 1:00 PM MT (TSN, NHL Network).

Parsons, selected in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft, has a 1.67 GAA and a .917 save percentage at the tournament. On Monday, he backstopped the Americans to a 3-2 win over Switzerland in the quarterfinals, stopping 19 of the 21 shots he faced.

Parsons' fellow Calgary Flames prospect Adam Fox will also be in the lineup for the USA this afternoon. The defenceman, Calgary's third round selection in last summer's draft, has one assist in five games at the tournament.

Pavel Karnaukhov, Calgary's fifth round pick in 2015, will play for Russia. The forward has two goals and three points in five skates at the World Juniors.

Dillon Dube and Canada will face off against Oliver Kylington and Sweden in this evening's semi-final game, taking place at 5:30 PM MT (TSN, NHL Network).
