The preseason is halfway finished, and the Ducks will travel up north for the first of two road games, this one against the Sharks.
Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. PT and will be live streamed on AnaheimDucks.com and the Honda Center + Ducks app. The Ducks are 1-0-0 vs the Sharks this preseason.
Among the veterans in a mostly young lineup tonight is Nick Jensen, Jeff Malott, Sam Colangelo, Tyson Hinds and goalies Ville Husso and Laurent Brossoit. Anaheim's second line will feature 2025 first round pick Roger McQueen and 2026 first rounder Nikita Klepov.
Anaheim is on the second game of a back-to-back after falling to Los Angeles, 2-1.
“There wasn't a lot of high-quality scoring chances, but we had some good looks,” head coach Joel Quenneville said after the game of the special teams. “We had some good opportunities. Should have been a little more productive butat the same time, it was a preseason game, and we worked hard. It was there, and it just didn't happen.”
Ethan Procyzsyn scored the Ducks’ lone goal in the contest demonstrating how the preseason is the perfect opportunity for younger players to showcase their skills on pro ice.
“The ‘Pro kid’, it’s the first time I've seen him at that level in play,” Quenneville said. “He’s had a good camp. We noticed him last year and I think he’s progressed well. I think he had a decent year in juniors as well. He's got some pace to his game, he’s good in the draws and he’s smart and effective.”
2026 second-round pick Jayden Kurtz saw his first action of the preseason last night for Anaheim. The defenseman said his focus for the game was to emphasize simplicity in plays and reads and “try not to overcomplicate anything and make the play when it was there.”
While Kurtz was assigned back to the USHL’s Chicago Steel this morning, he made an impression blocking three shots on the night.
“He's gonna be a good player,” Quenneville said. “I liked everything I saw about him all camp, and tonight he looked like he wasn't intimidated by the level of play and the pace of the game. He's got a very good understanding of the game, and he's just got some real nice poise.”
