GLENDALE -The Arizona Coyotes Foundation staged its annual Golf Classic recently on a perfect Arizona day at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler.
Coyotes players and coaches golfed with groups that paid to have one of them play in their five-some for a round of 18 holes. Funds also were raised via a live auction of Coyotes-themed gifts and memorabilia.

Captain Shane Doan and his group from Desert Schools Credit Union won the best-ball tournament with a score of 17-under par.
Doan said he mostly served as a passenger within his five-some, although he did say his team birdied one hole using all three of his shots.
"Golf is a challenging game," Doan said. "You can be good one day and really bad the next day and I have no idea how come. But this event is always fun. It's a great way to raise money for the Foundation and it's an opportunity for us as players to let our personalities come out with the people that we get to play with."
Max Domi agreed.
"It's a long day so there's lots of time to tell stories and it's always cool to get to know some new people," Domi said. ''And any time you can support any kind of charity it's great. One of the best parts about being a pro athlete is you get lots of chances to do that. Today is a fun day. And it's for a real good cause."
