MONTREAL - The Canadiens closed a six-game homestand with a 4-0 loss to the Senators on Saturday.

Goaltender Carey Price started for Montreal after missing the last six games with a lower-body injury.

It was his 24th start of the season, and his first since April 5 against the Edmonton Oilers.

The Senators opened the scoring at the 3:03 mark of the first period.
Defenseman Artem Zub beat Price with a perfectly placed shot on the blocker side to give Ottawa a 1-0 lead.

It was the 25-year-old Russian's third goal of the year.
Forwards Drake Batherson and Tim Stützle collected the assists on the play.
That's the way things stood after 20 minutes. Ottawa also led 5-3 in shots.
D.J. Smith's squad doubled their advantage with 6:48 left in the middle stanza.
Batherson capped a 2-on-1 with his 14th goal of the season, beating Price between the legs.

Forwards Brady Tkachuk and Josh Norris assisted on Batherson's snipe.
Ottawa headed to the locker room with a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes, but the Canadiens were ahead 14-10 in shots.
Batherson added another goal for the Senators with 4:34 remaining in regulation on the power play.
The 22-year-old forward beat Price with a shot from the slot.

Tkachuk and Norris both collected their second helpers of the contest on the play.
Defenseman Nikita Zaitsev then added an empty-netter.
Goaltender Matt Murray made 23 saves to register the shutout. It was the fourth time this season that the Canadiens were blanked.
For his part, Price turned aside 11 shots in the loss.
The Canadiens begin a five-game road trip on Monday night versus Edmonton at Rogers Place.
