TORONTO - The Canadiens suffered a 5-1 loss to the Maple Leafs on Saturday night at Scotiabank Arena.

Interim head coach Dominique Ducharme made one lineup change for the contest.
Centreman Jesperi Kotkaniemi replaced Jake Evans, who was sidelined with an injury.
The 20-year-old Finn started the game on a line with Paul Byron and Artturi Lehkonen.

Kotkaniemi celebrated his return by opening the scoring at the 7:57 mark of the first period.
The young pivot corralled a loose puck just beyond the crease and beat Maple Leafs goaltender Jack Campbell to give the Canadiens a 1-0 lead.

It was the fifth playoff goal of Kotkaniemi's career.
Wingers Joel Armia and Tyler Toffoli collected the assists on the play.
Toronto responded four minutes later with a tally courtesy of centreman Jason Spezza.
The 37-year-old veteran solved goaltender Carey Price with a wrist shot from the circle on the glove side.

It was the 26th playoff goal of Spezza's career.
Defenseman Zach Bogosian collected the lone helper on the sequence.
That's the way things stood after 20 minutes. Both teams registered nine shots on goal.
Toronto took a 2-1 lead at the 5:15 mark of the second period.
Centreman Auston Matthews jumped on a rebound off a shot from defenseman Justin Holl to score his first goal of the series.

It was the 13th postseason goal of Matthews' career.
Right-winger Mitch Marner picked up the secondary helper on the play.
The Maple Leafs doubled their lead with 6:40 remaining in the middle frame on the power play.
Defenseman Rasmus Sandin accepted a pass from Marner and blasted a one-timer past Price.

It was the first playoff goal of Sandin's career.
Matthews assisted on the goal as well.
Montreal trailed 3-1 after 40 minutes. Toronto also led 29-15 in shots.
Sheldon Keefe's contingent added another tally at the 8:50 mark of the third period on the power play.
Matthews' point shot hit the post, but the rebound ended up on the stick of William Nylander, who made it 4-1 for Toronto.

It was Nylander's second goal of the series.
Matthews amassed his third point of the night on the goal.
Defenseman Morgan Rielly also picked up an assist.
Alexander Kerfoot capped the scoring for the Maple Leafs with an empty-netter with 1:23 left in regulation.
Nylander assisted on the goal.
That's the way things finished up.
Price made 29 saves in the loss.
The two teams will meet again for Game 3 on Monday night at the Bell Centre.
