MONTREAL - Forward Phillip Danault and defenseman Jeff Petry are the Molson Cup recipients for the month of December (7 points). They succeed goaltender Carey Price who was the Molson Cup award winner for November.

Danault and Petry were selected as first star of the game twice each (on December 8 versus New Jersey and December 29 at Florida for the former; on December 17 at Washington and December 20 against Anaheim for the latter), and were a third star once each (on December 17 at Washington for Danault and December 22 versus Minnesota for Petry). Danault and Petry finished ahead of teammates Carey Price and Max Pacioretty.
In 14 games in December, Petry had a 5-4-9 points total. He ranked eighth among NHL defensemen in points (tied with nine others). The 29-year-old ranked third in goals among defensemen (tied with Jason Demers). He also finished fourth among defensemen with 46 shots and sixth with a +9 differential, while leading the team in both categories. Danault had a 2-5-7 points total in 14 games in December, ranking tied for third on the team in assists. The 23-year-old forward scored the game-winning goal on December 29 at Florida.

Phillip Danault and Jeff Petry will be presented with the Molson Cup during a ceremony prior to the game on Monday, January 9 against the Washington Capitals at the Bell Centre.
