BROSSARD – Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Thursday that the team has acquired forward Hunter McKown from the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Luke Tuch.
During his professional career, McKown suited up for 12 games with the Blue Jackets and recorded two assists. He has also played 184 regular-season games with the Cleveland Monsters in the AHL, tallying 31 goals and 49 assists. He added eight points, including four goals, in 25 playoff contests with Columbus' affiliate.
McKown, 23, spent three seasons with the Colorado College Tigers prior to making his pro debut, amassing 55 points (36G, 19A) in 96 games in the NCAA. He also represented the United States at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, appearing in four games.
A native of San Jose, CA, McKown is a 6-foot-1, right-shot center and weighs 192 pounds.
