BOSTON - Earlier this year, Chris Wagner teamed up with Harpoon Brewery to create a new beer called "Don't Poke the Bear," a bright and golden ale that was brewed with a touch of black honey and golden promise malt and delivers a light floral and citrus aroma with a biscuit, honey, and lemon zest taste.
A portion of the proceeds from the beer went to the Corey C. Griffin Foundation, and last week, Harpoon and Wagner announced that they would be donating $49,526 to the charity, which supports underprivileged youths and those with medical challenges.

Griffin was well known on the Boston sports scene, helping to run the annual NHL Alumni Pro-Am while also being an instrumental part in creating the Ice Bucket Challenge before his tragic passing in 2014 at the age of 27.

"We didn't expect to raise that much money," said the Walpole native. "We thought $20,000 would be good, but I guess people like a good beer in Massachusetts - which is no surprise - and they like the Bruins. They knew it was going to a great cause so we're very proud of that for sure."
Wagner visited Harpoon earlier this year to brew his own batch of "Don't Poke the Bear," which was seen on Behind The B.

Getting in the Spirit

Wagner was also out in the community on Monday for the Bruins'
outdoor, socially distanced Halloween celebration at the Boys & Girls Club of Boston's Orchard Gardens
location with Charlie Coyle, Boston Police Commissioner William Gross, and members of the BPD Hockey Team.
"It was awesome," said Wagner. "Obviously, the Boys & Girls Club is a great place for these kids to come and hang out, paint pumpkins, shoot pucks…it's awesome to be with the kids and hopefully make an impact in the community."

Popping the Question

It has been quite a busy stretch for Wagner, who also proposed to longtime girlfriend Kate MacDonald at Surf Drive Beach in Falmouth over the weekend. Wagner is the latest in a line of Bruins to get engaged in recent months, joining Brandon Carlo and Mayson Corbett, as well as Connor Clifton and Amanda Thompson.
