It's always good seeing old friends.
On Thursday morning, former St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester showed up to watch the team's morning skate at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary.
Bouwmeester, who lives within easy driving distance of Calgary, got a chance to catch up with former teammates such as Brayden Schenn, Jordan Binnington, Robert Bortuzzo, Colton Parayko and Oskar Sundqvist. He also visited with coaches and other members of the team's staff.
Bouwmeester was an instrumental part of the Blues' Stanley Cup championship run in 2019 and played eight seasons with St. Louis, recording 17 goals, 107 assists (124 points) and a plus-48 rating. His NHL career spanned 1,240 games with the Blues, Florida Panthers and Calgary Flames.
In Feb. 2020, Bouwmeester suffered a cardiac event during a game against the Anaheim Ducks, leading to his eventual retirement from the game in January 2021.
Bouwmeester will be at Thursday's game between the Blues and the Flames and says he is doing great!
