THREE THINGS: Get to know Strome & Perlini

The Blackhawks executed a trade late Sunday night, sending Nick Schmaltz to Arizona, in exchange for forwards Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini.
The trade is a change of scenery for some talented first-round picks. Chicago is hoping Strome and Perlini can unlock their full potential in new sweaters. Here are three things to know about the duo.

Strome put up massive numbers in the OHL with the Erie Otters. The forward was NHL Central Scouting's fourth-ranked North American skater ahead of the 2015 draft.
He scored 45 goals and finished with 129 points in 68 games during his draft year. That kind of offensive production got him selected third overall.
Strome hasn't spent much time in the NHL yet, playing only 48 games and recording seven goals and nine assists, but in 50 American Hockey League games last season, he scored 22 goals and finished more than a point-per-game player with 53 in 50 outings.

2. REUNITED

Strome reunites with Blackhawks forward Alex DeBrincat. The two were teammates with Erie from 2014-15 to 2016-17. They each had 100-plus point seasons in the same back-to-back years (2014-15 and 2015-16).
In 2016-17, the pair helped lead the Otters to an OHL Championship. During that regular season, DeBrincat tallied 65 goals and 62 assists for a total of 127 points in 63 games. Strome played only 35 games that season, but scored 22 goals and finished with 75 points.

In the playoffs, Strome had 14 goals and 20 assists in 22 games, while DeBrincat had 13 goals and 25 assists.
DeBrincat went 39th overall the year after Strome was drafted third.

3. A FAMILY MATTER

Both Strome and Perlini have hockey in their blood.
Perlini was born in the United Kingdom in 1996 where his father Fred played hockey for many years. His older brother Brett skated four seasons for Michigan State, before carving out a career in the ECHL for a few more. He now plays for the Nottingham Panthers in Great Britain, following in his father's footsteps.
Brendan's uncle is Kevin Conway, who also had a long hockey career overseas in Great Britain. And Scott Conway, Brendan's cousin, is currently playing for Providence College.

Strome is one of three brothers looking to make their mark on the NHL. The oldest brother Ryan Strome is currently with the New York Rangers and has skated for the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers, recording a total of 164 points in 363 NHL games. Ryan was selected by the Islanders fifth overall in the 2011 draft.
The youngest, Matthew, was taken in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft by Philadelphia. He's currently playing alongside Blackhawks prospect MacKenzie Entwistle with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL.
