RAPID REACTION:In another heartbreaker, the Blackhawks battled back from down 2-0 and peppered Carey Price with shots and chances, but Jeff Petry scored with 1:17 left to lead the Montreal Canadiens to a 3-2 victory.
The Blackhawks 38 shots on goal were tied for their third-most in a loss this season (40 vs Edmonton on Nov. 1 and 39 vs Washington on Nov. 21).
For the 10th consecutive game, the Blackhawks allowed the first goal. Max Domi buried a rebound at 6:05 of the first period for his 14th goal of the season. Just 1:31 later, Shea Weber potted his third of the season to give the visiting Canadiens a 2-0 lead.

Kane followed that up with the one-timer equalizer from the right circle at 12:55 of the second period. Kane hammered home the feed from Dominik Kahun to make it a 2-2 game.
Chicago was getting quality chances for much of the rest of the game, but Price was there to make the stops. Petry buried his fifth of the season with just over a minute left to prevent the Blackhawks comeback.
POWER PLAY STRIKES:After getting blanked on the man advantage in eight of their last nine games (1-for-23 in that span), Chicago broke through, courtesy of Kane at 19:01 of the first. It was Kane's eighth power-play point and second PPG of the season. The goal was scored on their third attempt of the evening.

PENALTIES, PENALTIES:Special teams had the potential to play a major role in the third period of this one. The Blackhawks were awarded four minutes on the power play due to a high stick, following a minor just before. They were unable to capitalize, however, and then had to kill off back-to-back penalties of their own. The teams finished the game with a total of 24 penalty minutes between them.
TALKING POINTS:
"It's always nice to produce. It's been awhile for me here lately. I could kind of feel it coming the last couple games. It's nice to get on the score sheet, would've been nice to get another one there in the third or get something, especially on the power play. But it didn't happen."- Patrick Kane
"Physically, I felt good. It was nice to get into a normal rhythm at the start of the game. Yeah, just getting into the flow of it was good. It was nice to have a home game. I felt like the guys were skating pretty well tonight and didn't have too much time defending, which is always nice to play a little more offense. So that part of it was good." - Connor Murphy on his first game of the season
WHAT'S NEXT:The Blackhawks hit the road for one game in Winnipeg on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on NBCSCH or heard on WGN 720.
