RECAP: Blackhawks Fall to Bruins in Final Seconds, 4-3

The Blackhawks and Bruins went back-and-forth on Thursday night in Boston, but the home team prevailed in the dying seconds of the game as Chicago fell 4-3.
Alex DeBrincat pushed his scoring streak to five straight games and Brandon Hagel notched a pair of goals in the loss, while Kevin Lankinen made 32 saves.

1st - 4:12 - Charlie Coyle (Connor Clifton, Craig Smith)

The Bs took an early lead on a goal from a pair of CCs. Connor Clifton kept the puck in at the point, walked into the slot in quick transition and put a shot on goal that was turned aside by Kevin Lankinen. The rebound directed right to Charlie Coyle at the left dot, where the forward scored on the put-back for a 1-0 advantage.

1st - 6:41 - Alex DeBrincat (Patrick Kane)

The Blackhawks answered back on a 4-on-1 rush a short time later. Patrick Kane brought the puck into the zone with Alex DeBrincat on the far side of the ice and Dylan Strome the high trailer. Kane opted to send a pass across to DeBrincat for a one-timer that hit twine before Jeremy Swayman could get across the blue paint for a 1-1 score.

2nd - 4:12 - Brandon Hagel (Jonathan Toews, Kirby Dach)

Chicago took the lead on a full-effort play by Brandon Hagel early in the second. Jonathan Toews fought along the boards to gain the blue line before chipping a puck to Hagel coming in with speed. Hagel drove the net, faked a shot in tight and then drove around the back of the net with speed, tucking a wraparound tally past Jeremy Swayman for a 2-1 lead.

2nd - 11:57 - Jack Ahcan (Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak) -- PP

Boston tied things up later in the middle frame as Jake Ahcan scored his first NHL goal on a Bruins power play. Off a scrum in the corner, Brad Marchand attempted a pass back to the point, but it deflected off a skate and back towards the slot. Ahcan corralled the puck, moved to the middle and put a wrister back against the grain to beat Kevin Lankinen through traffic for a 2-2 game.

2nd - 15:23 - David Pastrnak (Charlie McAvoy, Patrice Bergeron) -- PP

The Blackhawks went back to the kill a short time later and the Boston power play regained the home lead. From the far side of the ice, Charlie McAvoy found David Pastrnak in space across the sheet with a seam pass with Pastrnak blasting a one-timer into the net for a 3-2 score.

3rd - 3:24 - Brandon Hagel (Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome) -- PP

Chicago answered with a power-play goal of their own early in the third as Brandon Hagel notched his second of the night. With just a second to spare on the advantage, the visitors entered the zone off a rush as Dylan Strome sent a cross-ice pass to Alex DeBrincat for a quick look. DeBrincat's shot was stopped, but a hard-charging Hagel drove the slot and put the rebound home for a 3-3 game.

3rd - 19:42 - David Pastrnak (Taylor Hall)

The Bruins found the game-winner in the dying seconds off a broken play following a faceoff. Taylor Hall got the puck back in the corner of the offensive end and threw it towards goal, bouncing its way through the slot and between the legs of Connor Murphy to David Pastrnak on the weak side. Pastrnak slammed home a one-timer with just 17.2 ticks left on the clock for the victory.
