Home was indeed sweet for Chicago on Friday night as the Blackhawks picked up thier first win of the season, 4-1, over the Detroit Red Wings.
Patrick Kane, Calvin de Haan, Andrew Shaw and Mattias Janmark all tallied in the victory, and Kevin Lankinen earned a 30-save victory in his second career NHL start.

For the first time this season, the Blackhawks got on the board first with the game's opening power play. Off a zone entry, Alex DeBrincat found Dylan Strome just inside the blue line, where the center put a shot towards goal that deflected off Red Wings defenseman Alex Biega in front and to the feet of Patrick Kane. No. 88 scored goal No. 392 of his career into the gaping net as Thomas Greiss was caught sliding the other way.

2nd - 7:53 - Calvin de Haan (Dylan Strome, Ian Mitchell)

Calvin de Haan doubled the Blackhawks lead in the second period with a patient slap shot from the point. His defensive partner Ian Mitchell controlled the puck on the right side and found Dylan Strome below the goal line, who sent it cross-ice to the opposite point for the slap-shot tally. For Mitchell, he notched his first career NHL point on the play.

3rd - 6:17 - Andrew Shaw (Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat)

The power play remained red hot into the third period as Andrew Shaw struck for the first time this season to make it 3-0 Chicago. Alex DeBrincat got the puck at the left-side dot, fired a cross-ice feed to Patrick Kane on the opposite dot, and Kane quickly found Shaw back-door in the slot for the one-timer into the cage.

3rd - 12:22 - Dylan Larkin (Marc Staal, Frans Nielsen)

The Red Wings spoiled Lankinen's first career shutout bid just past the midway point of the third. Dylan Larkin put on a show of individual skill as he cut across the top of the crease on a rush and patiently waited out a sliding Lankinen in the crease before burying a rising shot to cut the score to 3-1.

3rd - 17:06 - Mattias Janmark (Connor Murphy)

Mattias Janmark secured victory with an empty-netter from the neutral zone while the Blackhawks were shorthanded late in the third, ensuring Chicago picked up two points with his first goal since joining the team in the offseason.
