Dec. 10, 1944: The Blackhawks and Rangers played to a 1-1 tie at Madison Square Garden. Fido Purpur scored the lone goal for Chicago with assists going to Russ Brayshaw and Cully Dahlstrom. The tie gave the Blackhawks a 2-10-2 record on the season. | On Nov. 30, 1926, the Blackhawks and Rangers met for the first time in NHL history. New York defeated Chicago in overtime, 4-3. Dick Irvin, Babe Dye and Mickey MacKay each scored for the Blackhawks. It was Chicago’s first overtime game in team history. |
