LAST GAME
The Blackhawks defeated the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday night at the United Center. The Blackhawks are now 6-7 in OT this year. Erik Gustafsson and Jonathan Toews were the goal scorers for Chicago, while J-F Berube turned aside 33 shots to pick up his second victory of the year. In two starts at home this year, he has made 75 saves on 77 shots.
VS. HURRICANES
Chicago holds a 10-13-1-1 mark all-time against Carolina, including a 6-5-0-1 record at home. The Blackhawks beat the Hurricanes 4-3 in OT in the first contest of the season on Nov. 11. Alex DeBrincat scored two goals while Brandon Saad netted the game-winning goal. Toews leads the team with 11 points (5G, 6A) in 14 career games against Carolina. Berube has a 1-0-1 record against the Hurricanes in his career.
OVERTIME, ALL-TIME
Toews netted the game-winning goal nine seconds into overtime vs. Colorado. It was the franchise's fastest overtime goal since Oct. 25, 1990 when Steve Larmer registered a goal eight seconds in vs. Washington. His 10 career regular-season OT goals are the most in franchise history.
THE SAADFATHER
Saad registered an assist in the win on Tuesday night and now has 29 points (15G, 14A) this season. He has two helpers over his last three games. The Pittsburgh native paced the Blackhawks with two takeaways in the win.
ONE-TIMERS
- Toews added an assist in the victory. It was his second multi-point effort over his last three games (March 3 vs. LAK; 1G, 2A). The Chicago captain now has 11 multi-point performances during the 2017-18 campaign. He won 12 of his 19 (63 percent) draws on Tuesday night. It was the 30th instance this season in which he won 60 percent or more of his faceoffs in a game.
- Gustafsson tallied his second goal of the season against the Avalanche. He has also added four assists this year.
- Patrick Kane picked up an assist on the game-winning goal. He has six points (1G, 5A) over his last five games. He leads Chicago with 63 points (24G, 39A) for the season.
- Duncan Keith notched a helper for the second straight game and has three assists over his last four games. His 28 helpers are second on the team.
- Connor Murphy skated in 20:47 of total ice time against the Avalanche. He also led the team with three blocked shots.
