BLOG: Blackhawks select Boqvist eighth overall

With the eighth overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks selected defenseman Adam Boqvist (
BOH-kwihst
).
The 5'11" Swedish blueliner is an offensive weapon, ranking second among European skaters according to NHL Central Scouting.
Boqvist tallied 24 points (14G, 10) in 25 games of play for Brynas J20 squad in the SuperElit league. He added five more points (3G, 2A) in three playoff games.
The defenseman also led his Swedish squad to a bronze medal at the U18 IIHF World Championship. In six games there, he recorded six points (3G, 3A) and finished tournament play +6.
