The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that they have recalled defenseman Carl Dahlstrom (DAL-struhm) from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs and placed defenseman Jan Rutta (YAHN ROO-tuh) on injured reserve, retroactive to February 6.
Dahlstrom has a career-high 23 points (3G, 20A) in 47 games with Rockford this year and was selected to represent the team at the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic. His point total leads all Rockford blueliners and is third among team skaters. He tallied a five-game point streak (1G, 8A) from December 1-12.
A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Dahlstrom registered his first career three-point performance (1G, 2A) on Dec. 9 vs. Grand Rapids. He has notched nine goals and 26 assists in 123 games, spanning four seasons (2014-18) with the IceHogs. The 23-year-old was originally drafted by the Blackhawks in the second round (51st overall) in the 2013 National Hockey League Draft.
Rutta has 17 points (5G, 12A) in 41 games with Chicago this season.
The Blackhawks return to the ice on Saturday when they play the Minnesota Wild at 7:00 p.m. The game can be seen on NBC Sports Chicago, streamed on NBCSportsChicago and the NBC Sports app and heard on WGN Radio.
