Minnesota Wild center Eric Staal has been named the NHL's Third Star for the week ending Dec. 18.
Staal ranked T-1st in the NHL in goals scored last week with four. He recorded a goal in all three games last week to help the Wild go undefeated and extend its winning streak to a season-high seven games.
Staal tallied five points (4-1=5) including a goal in a 5-1 win vs. Florida on Tuesday, two goals including the game-winning marker in a 5-2 win at Nashville on Thursday and recorded a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over Arizona on Saturday. He leads the Wild in scoring, assists and shots on goal and ranks T-1st in goals.
