The Iowa Wild, Minnesota Wild's American Hockey League affiliate, swept its home opening season series against the Manitoba Moose (2-0-0), outscoring the Moose, 12-2. The Wild ranks T-1st in the AHL with four power-play goals, T-1st in penalty kill percentage (9-for- 9) and third in goals.

The Wild won its first season opener game since 2013 with a 4-1 victory aganst the Moose on Friday at Wells Fargo Arena (10/5). Defenseman Ryan Murphy led the team with two points (1-1=2) while forwards Landon Ferraro, Gerry Fitzgerald and Kyle Rau each scored for Iowa. Goaltender Andrew Hammond stopped 21-of-22 shots in his 100th AHL game.
Iowa earned an 8-1 victory in its second game against Manitoba Sunday in Des Moines (10/7). The eight Wild goals set a franchise record for most goals in a single home game. Forward Mason Shaw led the team with three points (1-2=3), while forwards Colton Beck (2-0=2) and Dmitry Sokolov (0-2=2) and defensemen Louie Belpedio (0-2=2) and Hunter Warner (0-2=2) each tallied two points. Hammond made 26 saves and tallied an assist.
