Throughout this season, San Jose Sharks defenseman Mario Ferraro is turning Sharks games into unforgettable experiences for families impacted by pediatric cancer.

Through his ticket program, Ferraro hosts families at SAP Center for a special night at the Tank. Each group receives game tickets, parking, and food vouchers to enjoy the full Sharks game day experience before meeting Ferraro after the game for a personal meet and greet.

For Ferraro, the program is deeply personal. The idea began after he attended the Sharks Foundation’s Hockey Fights Cancer grant activation in November, where he had the chance to meet several children and families navigating cancer diagnoses. The experience left a lasting impact and inspired him to find a meaningful way to stay connected and support them beyond that moment.

As a Hockey Fights Cancer ambassador for the National Hockey League, Ferraro has become a passionate advocate for families affected by cancer. His ticket program allows him to build personal relationships with the families he meets while giving them a chance to enjoy a night of hockey together. After each game, Ferraro takes time to connect with the families during a postgame meet and greet.

For families, the night provides a chance to step away from hospital visits and treatments and enjoy time as a family.

Ferraro’s efforts have also inspired other Sharks players to explore ways they can give back and connect with their community in similar ways. Through moments like these, Ferraro continues to show that Sharks hockey extends far beyond the ice, bringing comfort and connection to families that need it most.
