Sharpen Up: October 17, 2016

What a day. The Bills won. The Sabres won. Everyone's happy. It's a great way to start the week.
Here's what you need to know.

The Sabres pounced on the Oilers early, weathered an Edmonton comeback in the first period and scored four unanswered goals to close out the game. Here's our recap of the action.
There are a lot of positives to come out of that 6-2 victory. Most notably, Ryan O'Reilly broke out for a four-point night and Kyle Okposo made his presence felt with two points in his first game.
Let's hear from Sabres coach Dan Bylsma, who was quite pleased as you could imagine, especially when you consider how they played in the opener on Thursday against the Canadiens.
"Tonight was completely, completely different mentality, completely different focus from our team," Bylsma said. "…I thought we played a smart game and a heads up game. That's how the Buffalo Sabres need to play."

Okposo opened the scoring on his first shot of the night.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Okposo is the fifth current Sabre to score on his first shot on goal, joining Jack Eichel, Hudson Fasching, Zemgus Girgensons and Matt Moulson.
He also set up O'Reilly to make it 2-0 with a nifty little pass. Here are his postgame thoughts:

Speaking of Moulson, he continues to put up points. After scoring in Thursday's opener, he potted his second of the season last night.

Other good things that happened: The line of Johan Larsson between Marcus Foligno and Brian Gionta was reunited and the team reaped some immediate benefits. Gionta scored twice and Foligno and Larsson each picked up assists.
Here's the captain. He joined Duffer and MayDay on the postgame show. But all you'll probably want to talk about are Brad's fancy new glasses:

Robin Lehner made 31 saves to pick up his first win of the season.

And here's O'Reilly's second goal, which took a weird bounce you'll want to watch again and again
"I tried to put a little action on it, I guess," O'Reilly said, laughing. "I practice it all the time. It's a tough play for the goalie."
