We are one month away from the start of the Prospects Challenge.
The Sabres will once again host the Prospects Challenge from September 15 to 19 at LECOM Harborcenter.
For the first time in the history of the tournament, the Sabres will be joined by five other teams to compete in a round-robin challenge featuring prospects from each team. The participating teams this season are the Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Tickets for all eight games are on sale now.

Sheahan back on one-year contract

The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Riley Sheahan to a one-year, two-way contract worth $950,000, the team announced Wednesday.
Last season with Seattle, the 30-year-old native of St. Catharines, Ontario recorded four goals and 13 assists in 69 games.
This will be Sheahan's second stint with the Sabres. In 2020-21, he posted 13 points (4+9) over 53 games played.

Mark your calendars

Ryan Miller will be honored on Thursday, January 19, 2023 when the Buffalo Sabres face the New York Islanders at KeyBank Center.
The Sabres will celebrate the career of the goaltending great as he will be inducted into the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame and have his No. 30 retired to the rafters in a pregame banner-raising ceremony.

WJC update

For Sweden, Isak Rosen and Linus Sjodin are playing at the rebooted 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton. Jiri Kulich is representing Czechia.
Rosen has three points (2+1) over three games including a game-winning goal. Sjodin has skated in all three games. They'll wrap up their preliminary schedule Monday night at 10 p.m. ET against Germany.

Kulich has posted two points (1+1) in four games. He was named Czechia's Play of the Game in Thursday's shootout loss to Finland. Czechia is locked into fourth place in Group B.
The quarterfinals begin Wednesday at noon ET. All games are airing live on NHL Network in the U.S.

The Buffalo Sabres made three selections in the first round of the 2022 NHL Draft and "Buffalo Sabres: Embedded" was there to capture all of the drama and excitement.
"Building The Pipeline" presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York is available to watch now on Sabres.com and the team's official YouTube channel.
The episode, produced by Pegula Sports and Entertainment, follows Kevyn Adams throughout the draft process as he prepares for his first in-person draft as Buffalo's general manager. Fans will gain exclusive access to pre-draft meetings, including an interview with prospect Matt Savoie during the NHL Combine.
The Sabres ultimately selected Savoie (9th overall), Noah Ostlund (16th overall) and Jiri Kulich (28th overall), marking the first time since 1983 that the organization made three first-round picks in the same draft.
