Three Buffalo Sabres prospects are participating in the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, which is restarting Tuesday, August 9 after the original iteration of the tournament was canceled in December due to COVID-19.
Forwards Isak Rosen (first round, 2021) and Linus Sjodin (seventh round, 2022) will represent Sweden. Forward Jiri Kulich (first round, 2022) will dress for Team Czechia.
Every World Junior Championship game telecast will air live on NHL Network in the U.S. All games will be played at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

Tuesday, August 9
Gabriel Szturc scored with 1:50 remaining in regulation to lift Czechia to a 5-4 win in the first game of the tournament.

Kulich assisted on Czechia's second goal of the game to tie things up in the second period. He finished with three shots in 16:25 of ice time, which was fourth among his team's forwards.
Wednesday, August 10

Rosen scored what turned out to be the deciding goal in Sweden's first game of the tournament.
Rosen's goal early in the third period put Sweden ahead 3-0 and they were able to hang on for the win. Rosen finished with five shots in 11:36 of action.
Sjodin skated 14:18 and registered one shot on net.
Thursday, August 11

With two points (1+1) and seven shots on goal in 19:32 of action, Kulich was named Czechia's Player of the Game.
He scored his first goal of the tournament to put Czechia up 2-0 off a faceoff midway through the first period.

After a rally by Finland to take a 3-2 lead, Kulich assisted on the goal that tied things up midway through the third period.
Czechia ultimately fell in the shoootut.
"We played a great match," Kulich told IIHF.com. "The shootout is just a lottery. Maybe in a soccer match we would have won."
Friday, August 12

Rosen posted a goal and an assist in Sweden's win. Through two games, he is tied for the team lead with three points (2+1). Sjodin skated 15:41.
Saturday, August 13
Kulich skated 18:43 with one shot on goal in the loss. Czechia is currently in third place in Group A with four points.
Sunday. August 14
Kulich recorded seven shots in 17:52 during Czechia's stunning loss. With the win, Latvia clinched a spot in the quarterfinals and eliminated Slovakia. Czechia is in fourth place in Group A.
Sjodin posted one shot on goal in 12:12 of action while Rosen played 9:30 in Sweden's defeat to Team USA. Sweden is currently second in Group B with six points.
Monday, August 15
Rosen recorded two shots on goal in 11:03. Sjodin skated 13:28 in the victory. Sweden will play Latvia at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the quarterfinals.
Wednesday, August 17

Rosen opened the scoring for Sweden in their win against Latvia. Sjodin put one shot on goal in 15:28 of ice time. Sweden will face Finland on Friday at 8 p.m.
The winner will advance to the championship on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Kulich led the way with a goal and two assists in Czechia's stunning upset over Team USA to advance to the semifinals.

He posted helpers on Czechia's first goal, which made it 1-1 in the first period, and on the second-period goal that put them up 3-1. He then scored the empty netter in the third to ice the victory.
Czechia will face Canada on Friday at 4 p.m. for the opportunity to play for gold on Saturday.
Friday, August 19

Kulich picked up assists on both of Czechia's goals as their run came to an end against Canada on Friday. Czechia will play the loser of the Sweden/Finland game for the bronze medal.
Rosen skated 13:19 in the loss while Sjodin logged 11:36.
Saturday, August 20

Rosen scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and logged 8:58 of ice time to help Sweden win bronze. Sjodin netted his first goal of the tournament to make it 3-1 in the third. For Czechia, Kulich logged a game-high five shots.
