Amerks Update | Murray takes over team goal scoring lead

The Rochester Americans will wrap up another stretch of three games in four nights with a back-to-back set Friday against Utica and Saturday in Toronto.
After a 5-1 loss to the Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday, the Amerks are 11-8-1-1 with 24 points. They're three points back of Toronto for the division lead and have a game in hand. Only 10 points separate first-place Toronto from last-place Laval.
Brett Murray is now the team's goal-scoring leader after scoring Rochester's lone goal - his ninth of the season - in that game. He is also tied for the team-lead in points with 15 through 21 games played.

The 6-foot-5, 228-pound left winger has developed strong chemistry with his linemates Michael Mersch and Sean Malone. Back on November 25, the trio combined for nine points in a 6-5 overtime win over Bridgeport. Malone had a hat trick and Murray scored the winning goal.
Last season, Murray posted AHL career highs in goals (15), assists (17) and points. He's currently on pace for 30 goals and 51 points.
"He's just worked so hard to redefine his game, to be more physically engaged, to be more of a power forward," Amerks head coach Seth Appert said.
"He's really put a ton of time into his skating and his body makeup and now he's skating so well that he's out there for 3-on-3 overtime and he's out during the penalty kill and, I think, it's just growing his confidence in himself as well."
