"With special thanks to Labatt Blue, the Red Wings look forward to helping Detroit Parks and Recreation's Jack Adams Memorial Arena prepare to reopen this fall," said Red Wings and Tigers director of community impact Kevin Brown. "Our aim is to continue inspiring future generations of hockey players across our community and ensuring widespread accessibility for young Detroiters."
"Our local Labatt employees look forward to volunteering to renovate community rinks where the love of hockey begins. Pick-up games with friends lead to a lifelong love of the game," said Janine Schoos, brand director for Labatt. "We're excited to partner with the Red Wings to get the rinks ready!"
Jack Adams Memorial Arena, located at 10500 Lyndon Street in Detroit, is currently the city's only indoor, public ice rink. The arena is named after former Red Wings coach and general manager Jack Adams, who is the only person to win the Stanley Cup as a player, coach and general manager. Operated by the Detroit Parks & Recreation Department, Jack Adams Memorial Arena hosts in-house leagues and introduction to hockey programs for children ages 3-12.
"The City is thankful for the partnership of the Red Wings and Labatt Blue," said Erin Casey, Assistant Director, Detroit Parks & Recreation. "This will go towards exposing even more Detroit youth to hockey through programs at the renovated Jack Adams Memorial Arena."
In August 2019, the Red Wings and Labatt Blue also collaborated to renovate the hockey rink and surrounding areas at Clark Park in southwest Detroit.
