Homestand Kick Off
The Cats begin an eight-game homestand at BB&T Center on Saturday against the Chicago Blackhawks at 7 p.m.
Before the game, Tomas Vokoun will be honored as part of the ongoing 25th Anniversary celebrations. The Panthers acquired the former All-Star goaltender from the Nashville Predators on June 22, 2007. The native of Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, spent four seasons between the pipes as the Panthers starting goaltender.
In his first season with the Panthers, Vokoun produced 30 wins, the second-most by a Cats goaltender in a single season. The following year, "Voky" finished the 2008-09 season with a .926 save percentage, the second-highest among all NHL goaltenders, while notching six shutouts. In 2009-10, Vokoun registered seven shutouts, tying Roberto Luongo's franchise single-season record and owned a .925 save percentage, finishing third in the NHL in that category.
