mcginn weekend in sofla

Welcome to "My Weekend in South Florida," where your favorite Florida Panthers players share how they prefer to spend their free weekends throughout the summer and season while suiting up for the NHL's southernmost franchise.

1. If I have a free weekend in South Florida, I usually spend it…
I'd say I'm usually fishing in the early morning and then finishing things off the next day with a round of golf or something like that. For me, that's an ideal weekend. When it comes to fishing, I like to go out on the ocean and try to catch the bigger stuff. It's fun. It's a good fight and a way to clear your head. It's a way to get away from hockey and just enjoy the world for what it is.

2. If one of my teammates tags along, it's usually…
It's normally Mark Pysyk because he lives right next door to me. We seem to run into each other every day [Laughs]. He's always up for a good time and ready to do anything. Normally, we meet each other out in the backyard when we're taking our dogs out. Then, one thing leads to the next and we're on the boat or golfing or doing something.
3. I like having him around because…
Mark's fun. He's always up for a good time and always smiling. I don't think you can find a picture where he's not smiling or not taking it seriously. He's a fun guy to be around and he likes to joke around. That's the kind of people I like to surround myself with.

4. When it's time to grab a bite, I'll head to…
I enjoy sushi. I don't really have a favorite place down here yet. I like hibachi places as well, you know, that kind of food. I think Asia Bay off Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale is really good.
5. If that's not an option, then I'll try…
If sushi's not an option, then I'm not really sure. I guess I'm just kind of a chicken stir fry kind of guy.
6. If I hit the beach, I can't forget to bring…
Sunscreen. You also need a towel and umbrella to stay in the shade because it's too hot here [Laughs].
7. My favorite thing about playing hockey in South Florida is…
I think just being able to leave the rink in your shorts. Once you leave the rink your bones aren't aching because how cold it is or anything like that. It just makes you feel good when you leave and puts you in a much better mood.
