The goal of Soar with Reading, a partnership between JetBlue and Random House Children's Books, is to distribute 100,000 books to the Fort Lauderdale community, with four vending machines installed throughout the city that will dispense free age-appropriate books to children and their families all summer long.
Looking head, JetBlue plans to host a special story hour at one vending machine location each week until Aug. 31 in order to help build support for the program in the community. If you'd like to attend a future reading, local residents can sign up for mobile updates on the machines by texting SOAR to 77948.
As Soar with Reading's first guest reader this summer, Haley, who is moving to South Florida after signing a two-year deal with the Panthers this summer, is excited to show his support for his new community by helping foster a love of reading among young hockey fans.
