'Yotes Notes: Vrbata Sets Career-High Point Streak

Radim Vrbata notched a goal and an assist on Friday night vs. the Dallas Stars, and extended his goal streak to three games and his point streak to a career-high eight games.

Vrbata gave Arizona a 1-0 lead when he scored his 14th goal of the season at 7:06 of the first period. He later assisted on Martin Hanzal's goal in the second period.
Vrbata leads the team with 44 points, 17 more than he tallied all of last season with Vancouver.
"He's just a really good player and a smart player," Head Coach Dave Tippett said. "... I'm not surprised that 'Vrby' has come back and had that kind of year. He's a guy that finds ways to get things done."
• Dallas won, 5-2, to extend its home winning streak over the Coyotes to eight games. Arizona last beat the Stars at American Airlines Center on Feb. 7, 2012.
"Just so many turnovers," Tippett said. "We just don't execute well enough to give ourselves a chance. That's the frustrating part for me."

• Hanzal scored his goal at 13:59 of the second period and it gave Arizona a 2-1 lead. The tally was Hanzal's 16th of the season, matching his career-high for goals in a season. Hanzal finished the game with eight shots.
• Goalie Louis Domingue stopped 32 of 37 shots and lost his fourth start in a row.
"Going into the third (period) it was a 2-2 game," Domingue said. "We'll take that any time. I made good saves, (but) it didn't turn out the way I wanted tonight, again."

• Defenseman Alex Goligoski played a team-high 25:53 in his first game in Dallas since leaving the Stars via trade last June.
Goligoski, who played 385 regular-season games for Dallas, blocked seven shots and delivered three hits vs. his former team.
"It was good to get a few shifts under my belt but yeah, definitely, (it was) a little weird coming back for the first time," Goligoski said. "I'm just glad it's over."
The Stars played a tribute video for Goligoski during a break in the first period, and Dallas fans applauded it and his return to the arena.
"That was nice and I appreciate that," Goligoski said. "I enjoyed my time here and that was nice closure, I guess."

• Defenseman Luke Schenn saved a goal by lunging and stopping the puck with his stick just before it fully crossed the goal line with five minutes left in the second period.
• Center Alexander Burmistrov suffered an upper-body injury in the second period and played only 7:02. He is considered day-to-day.
• Rookie Lawson Crouse returned to the lineup after missing six games because of a lower-body injury. Crouse played just 11:07 in his first game back.
• Goalie Mike Smith did not dress for the game due to illness. Rookie Adin Hill was recalled from the American Hockey League just a few hours before the game and served as Domingue's backup. Hill is the fifth goalie to dress for a game for the Coyotes this season joining Smith, Domingue, Justin Peters and Marek Langhamer.
