Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk each had a goal and an assist for the Calgary Flames in a 4-1 preseason win against the Vancouver Canucks at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on Friday.
Gaudreau's first goal of the preseason gave the Flames a 1-0 lead 15:18 into the first period, and Mikael Backlund made it 2-0 at 3:30 of the second period. Jonah Gadjovich got the Canucks within 2-1 at 5:23, but Tkachuk extended the lead to 3-1 at 6:54 of the third period. Brett Ritchie scored a power-play goal into an empty net at 19:11 for the 4-1 final. Jacob Markstrom made 14 saves on 15 shots in two periods for Calgary, and Dustin Wolf made seven saves in relief. Thatcher Demko made 27 saves for Vancouver.
