MORNING SKATE NOTES
- Head coach André Tourigny shared that there are some game time decisions.
- The Mammoth and Stars wrap up their regular season series tonight.
Fourth and Final
For the final time this season, Utah and Dallas will face off. It should be another tight game as each of the three previous games have been decided by one goal. The Mammoth want to assert their own game and style of play tonight against the Stars.
“Be hard on their guys,” Kailer Yamamoto said. “Play with pace, just play our game. I think when we play our game, I think we’re a really good team. I think we can compete with anybody.”
It’s a challenge that the Mammoth are excited for, especially with how even the season series has been to this point.
“You need to bring your A-game and it will, if both teams play the way they should, it will be a post at the end of the game that will make a difference," Tourigny shared. "We’ll hope it’s on our side, but we’re confident. We love the way our team can play. It’s a good measuring stick. It’s a good challenge. We’re ready for it.”
Strong Defensively
Dallas is scoring the sixth-most goals per game in the NHL. It’ll take a connected effort for the Mammoth to limit the Stars.
“Make sure we’re tracking back,” Yamamoto said on the forwards role defensively. “There’s going to be turnovers, or you’re going to make good plays, but as long as we’re tracking back and staying above their forwards. That’ll definitely help our (defensemen).”
There’s plenty of threats that Dallas brings and Tourigny discussed how tonight’s opponent can be challenging.
“They’re really strong along the boards,” Tourigny explained. “They possess the puck a lot. They’re capable of winning a lot of battles. They’re (defensemen) are really dangerous off the rush. They’re really good skaters, all of them, so that represents a challenge.”
