Trevor Lewis scored, and Darcy Kuemper made 29 saves for the Kings (24-15-5), who have lost four games in a row to match their longest losing streak this season (Nov. 9-16).

The Sharks went 3-0-1 against the Kings this season. They trail Los Angeles by one point for third place in the Pacific Division with a game in hand.
"You dial in a bit more when you're playing a rival and you're playing a division team when they're ahead in the standings, for sure," said Tierney, who scored for the third time in five games and has six points in his past six games. "We're trying to catch them, hunt them down, so anytime you're playing a team that's ahead of you, you are going to bring your 'A' game."

Tierney put the Sharks up 1-0 at 4:38 of the first period when he scored into an open net. Kings defenseman Kurtis MacDermid was focused on Donskoi after his partner Christian Folin lost his footing trying to play the puck, allowing Tierney to be all alone at the right edge of the crease for Donskoi's pass.
San Jose took a 2-0 lead at 8:52 of the second period when Goodrow followed up the rebound of DeMelo's shot. A charging Melker Karlsson had the first chance at the rebound, but he couldn't get his stick on the puck, and it trickled to Goodrow in the slot.
"We seem to be able to get pucks in behind their D and forecheck these guys pretty well," Jones said. "That's a big part of our game when we turn pucks over in the offensive zone and play down there, it makes everything a little easier."
It was Goodrow's first point in four games after he missed 11 with an upper-body injury.
The Sharks nearly scored again late in the second, but Folin used his skate to keep out Tomas Hertl's shot toward an open net with 17 seconds remaining.
Boedker tapped the puck into an open net to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead at 9:11 of the third period. Donskoi couldn't get off a shot from in front with an open net after Tierney's backhand pass from below the right face-off circle, and the puck went to Boedker off the left post.

Lewis scored his third goal in five games to make it 3-1 with 7:18 left. He has six points (three goals, three assists) in his past six games.
Thornton scored an empty-net goal with 19.4 seconds remaining to make it 4-1.

The Sharks are 10-2-3 against Pacific teams. The Kings are 5-7-3 against the Pacific, the third-worst record in the division, after losing three games in a row.
"We've got to get our team game reset on both sides of the puck … and play with a level of urgency that's necessary every shift," Kings coach John Stevens said.
