Ryan Merkley had a goal and an assist for the San Jose Sharks in a 3-1 preseason win against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center in Anaheim on Thursday.
Jeffrey Viel gave the Sharks a 2-1 lead 9:05 into the second period before Kevin Labanc scored on the power play off a pass from Merkley at 15:40 of the third period for the 3-1 final. James Reimer made 24 saves. Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored shorthanded 6:47 into the first period to give the Ducks a 1-0 lead before Merkley tied it 1-1 at 12:49. John Gibson made 14 saves on 16 shots playing for Anaheim. Anthony Stolarz made 15 saves on 16 shots in relief.
