RECAP: Blackhawks Drop Division Tilt to Blues, 5-1

The Blackhawks found themselves in a two-goal hole early that they couldn't climb out of on Saturday night in St. Louis, dropping a 5-1 contest to their Central Division foes in the Show Me State.
Dylan Strome scored on the power play for the second straight game for Chicago's lone tally on the night. Marc-Andre Fleury made 26 stops in the loss.

1st - 8:19 - David Perron (Justin Faulk, Brayden Schenn) -- PP

On the game's opening power play, David Perron gathered the puck at the top of the near-side circle and worked his way around a waiting shot block from Calvin de Haan with a quick toe drag and shot, beating Marc-Andre Fleury off the subtle angle change for a 1-0 lead.

1st - 11:31 - Dakota Joshua (Torey Krug, Oskar Sundqvist)

St. Louis made it a two-goal game a short time later after Torey Krug shot from the point was turned aside by the blocker Marc-Andre Fleury. The rebound went right into the midsection of a streaking Dakota Joshua through the slot, then dropping into the path of the forward in front. Joshua, in motion, quickly tucked a shot from the side of the crease past Fleury for a 2-0 score.

2nd - 2:37 - Dylan Strome (Patrick Kane, Dominik Kubalík) -- PP

Just 13 seconds into a 5-on-3 advantage, the Blackhawks moved the puck around the entire offensive zone with tic-tac-toe efficiency before Dylan Strome slipped a puck home at the top of the crease for a 2-1 game. From the far point, Seth Jones moved it to Dominik Kubalík at the near blue line, who immediately sent it to Patrick Kane in the corner. Kane immediately sent a hard past to Strome in front, who redirected it between the legs of Ville Husso while boxing out a defenseman at the edge of the paint.

2nd - 19:19 - Vladimir Tarasenko (Robert Thomas, Pavel Buchnevich)

The Blues regained their two-goal lead in the final minute of the frame after Pavel Buchnevich won a puck back along the board in the Blackhawks zone. Vladimir Tarasenko and Robert Thomas then played give-and-go in an abbreviated 2-on-2 as Thomas drove the slot before leaving a between-the-legs drop pass into the path of Tarasenko for the 3-1 score.

3rd - 7:11 - Oskar Sundqvist (Niko Mikkola, Brandon Saad)

St. Louis tallied their second rebound goal of the game in the third to put the contest away as Oskar Sundqvist found the loose puck inside the circle off a Niko Mikkola shot from distance and put a shot past Marc-Andre Fleury for a 4-1 lead.

3rd - 15:38 - Jordan Kyrou (Brayden Schenn)

Brayden Schenn won a puck battle behind the Chicago goal and slipped a pass into the low slot for Jordan Kyrou all alone. Kyrou eluded a Marc-Andre Fleury poke check and then a closing Blackhawks defenseman before slipping a shot into the wide-open net behind the white jerseys for a 5-1 score.
