Iowa won its first contest of the week, 5-3 against Rockford on Thursday at Wells Fargo Arena in front of 13,422 fans which set a record for the largest crowd at a professional hockey game ever in the state of Iowa (11/9). F Zack Mitchell (1-2=3) and D Ryan Murphy (1-2=3) led the team with three points each. F Cal O'Reilly (1-1=2) and D Alex Grant (0-2=2) tallied two points apiece. G Steve Michalek stopped 33-of-36 shots in his season debut. The Wild earned a 6-1 victory against the Monsters on Saturday in Des Moines (11/11). Mitchell led the team with four points (2-2=4) while F Sam Anas (0-2=2), F Christoph Bertschy (1-1=2), F Pat Cannone (1-1=2), F Justin Kloos (1-1=2) and F Kyle Rau (1-1=2) notched two points each. Michalek made 30 saves in the win. Iowa won its third contest of the week, closing out a five-game homestand with a 3-2 shootout win over Cleveland on Sunday (11/12). F Landon Ferraro and D Zach Palmquist each scored during regulation while Anas netted the shootout winner. G Niklas Svedberg stopped 26-of-28 shots through overtime and all three shootout attempts. The Wild earned a 2-1 victory against the IceHogs on Wednesday at BMO Harris Bank Center (11/15). Kloos and Mitchell each scored for the team while Anas, F Colton Beck and D Brennan Menell tallied an assist apiece. Svedberg made 26 saves.
Mitchell leads the Wild with 13 points (4-9=13) in 10 games this season, including 11 points (4-7=11) in the month of November and ranks T-12th in the AHL with three power-play goals. Beck ranks second on the team with 11 points (6-5=11) in 15 contests. Cannone (6-4=10) and Kloos (4-6=10) rank T-3rd with 10 points each. Kloos also ranks T-8th amongst AHL rookies in scoring. Svedberg is 5-6-1 with a 2.60 GAA, a .910 SV% and one shutout in 12 games this season and leads league goalies in minutes (716) and saves (315), ranks T-1st in games played and T-8th in wins. Michalek is 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and a .940 SV% in two games. Iowa will host Grand Rapids on Friday before traveling to Rockford on Wednesday.
