ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Evgeni Malkin scored at 3:57 of overtime, and the Pittsburgh Penguins ended the Minnesota Wild's seven-game winning streak with a 4-3 victory at Xcel Energy Center on Thursday.

Malkin jammed in his own rebound at the right post after Cam Talbot made the initial save.
Rickard Rakell scored two goals for the Penguins (41-18-10), who have won two of their past three and trail the New York Rangers by one point for second place in the Metropolitan Division. Casey DeSmith made 28 saves for his first win since Feb. 27.
"Really happy for Casey," Pittsburgh coach Mike Sullivan said. "He's working hard and trying to keep his game at the top level. He gets a start like this in an important game against a real good team that's won an awful lot of games lately, and I thought he made some big saves for us throughout the course of the game. I thought he played real well. I'm happy for him."

PIT@MIN: Malkin ends it in overtime with his 17th

Kirill Kaprizov scored for the fifth straight game for the Wild (41-20-5), who lead the St. Louis Blues by four points for second in the Central Division. Talbot, who had won his previous eight starts, made 35 saves.
Kaprizov tied it 3-3 at 1:02 of the third period. He cut to the slot and scored on a one-timer off a pass from Ryan Hartman, who had banked the puck off the back of the net to avoid Malkin.
Kaprizov has scored 83 points (38 goals, 45 assists) in 65 games this season, tying Marian Gaborik (2007-08) for the most in Minnesota history.
"He never seems to score an insignificant point or goal," Talbot said of Kaprizov. "He always gets us back in the game, ties the game late, scores the OT winner. He's always finding ways to make an impact on the game. And it's never in those games that we're already up or something like that. He's not looking for his cookies or anything like that. He comes to play when the game is on the line. That's why he's a superstar."
Rakell gave Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead at 1:06 of the first period, redirecting John Marino's shot five-hole on Talbot.
Mathew Dumba tied it 1-1 with a power-play goal at 10:51. During a scramble near the crease, Dumba's initial attempt hit the left post, but his follow up crossed the goal line before Kris Letang was able to clear it away.
"I wanted to put it away a little bit better than that, but it crossed the line," Dumba said.
Jake Guentzel put the Penguins back in front 2-1 at 1:54 of the second period. Talbot made the initial save on Letang's shot, but the rebound went right to Guentzel in the slot for a power-play goal.
"I mean, just a great face-off play," Guentzel said. "Just had my stick on the ice and right on my stick. So definitely one I'll take here."

PIT@MIN: Rakell directs Marino's shot back on net

Rakell extended the lead 3-1 at 9:49, finishing a 2-on-1 with Sidney Crosby.
Jordan Greenway appeared to score for the Wild at 17:34, but Sullivan challenged the play for offside, and the call was reversed after a video review.
However, Frederick Gaudreau scored 14 seconds later to cut it to 3-2. He beat DeSmith under his glove with a slap shot from near the right hash marks after receiving a pass from Kevin Fiala.
"We really liked our resilience and our push back," Minnesota coach Dean Evason said. "It would have been easy to fold at 3-1, for sure, and guys just kept doing the right things, didn't lose their composure like us coaches probably. And, you know, we were able to get a point."
NOTES: Penguins forward Jason Zucker left the game at 9:49 of the second period after a hit from Fiala sent him awkwardly into the boards. Zucker, who had the secondary assist on Rakell's first goal, was playing his first game since having core muscle surgery on Jan. 25. No update was provided postgame. … Letang's assist was his 500th in the NHL. … Wild defenseman Jon Merrill and forward Matt Boldy each left in the second period because of an upper-body injury. Merrill will not join the team on its upcoming four-game road trip. Boldy, who had two assists, is expected to travel.
