Saturday is the fifth day of the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, which is being held at Rogers Place in Edmonton.

On Tap for Day 5

All games on NHL Network in U.S., TSN and RDS in Canada
Austria vs. United States (2 p.m. ET) -- The United States (2-0-0-0) has been keyed by its top line of Thomas Bordeleau (San Jose Sharks), Carter Mazur (Detroit Red Wings) and Landon Slaggert (Chicago Blackhawks), which has combined to score five of the 12 goals the U.S. has scored in its two games. As much as the offense has been relentless in wins against Germany and Switzerland, equally impressive is the combined 35 shots on goal allowed in two games. Austria (0-0-0-2), which lost 6-0 to Sweden on Friday, still is seeking its first win (0-19) in its fifth appearance at the top level of the under-20 tournament.
Canada vs. Czechia (6 p.m. ET) -- Forward Mason McTavish (Anaheim Ducks) leads the tournament with eight points (four goals, four assists) in two games, including a Canada record-tying four goals against Slovakia on Thursday. Coach Dave Cameron said what's been most impressive from McTavish, Canada's captain, is his attitude. "He's an NHL player," Cameron said. "Had every reason in the world not to come to this just because of the timing of it, and he's fully engaged in it." Canada (2-0-0-0) also should have forward Ridley Greig (Ottawa Senators) in the lineup after sitting out the third period against Slovakia for precautionary reasons, according to Cameron. Czechia (1-0-1-0) will need another big game from forward Jan Mysak (Montreal Canadiens), who has four points (three goals, one assist) in two games.
Germany vs. Switzerland (10 p.m. ET) -- Germany (1-0-0-1) will go for its second straight win after a 4-2 victory against Austria on Wednesday. Forwards Alexander Blank (2023 Draft eligible), who had a natural hat trick in the second period against Austria, has been Germany's best player, along with forward Joshua Samanski. Switzerland (0-0-0-2) will be looking to rebound after a 7-1 loss to the United States on Thursday. The hope is they can play more like they did Wednesday, when they scored two goals in the third period to put a scare into Sweden in a 3-2 loss. An effort like that will give them a chance to climb into fourth place and make the medal round.
