ZAGREB, CROATIA and NEW YORK – Sofascore, the sports-tech company behind one of the world's most popular sports platforms, and the National Hockey League (NHL) today announced a multiyear global partnership granting Sofascore the tools to develop Sofascore’s next generation of NHL statistics.

The partnership brings Sofascore's product and engineering teams into direct collaboration with the NHL, with support from Sportradar, a global sports technology company and official NHL data partner, so Sofascore can develop new ways of visualizing and understanding the game, from real-time event tracking to advanced offensive analytics. Starting this NHL season, Sofascore users will begin seeing a new toolkit of NHL stats on Sofascore platforms, including:

* Play-by-play and live event mapping, a real-time, visual way to follow the flow of a game.

* Next-generation shot maps with richer detail on shot location, type and quality.

* Offensive Intensity, a new live metric tracking which team is controlling the play.

* Attack Zones, a zone-based view of offensive pressure adapted for NHL games.

* Advanced expected-value models, including expected goals (xG) and goalie-specific xG.

Sofascore is using the NHL’s state of the art NHL EDGE positional data (NHL Puck and Player Tracking) to create these stats and this partnership marks Sofascore's first entry into the NHL, extending a platform already trusted by more than 120 million fans a year across 25 sports.

“We’ve spent years building Sofascore around one idea: fans deserve to see the game with the same clarity the people inside it do,” said Zlatko Hrkać, Sofascore’s Co-founder and CEO. “Working directly with the NHL’s own data and technology lets us do that for hockey, on a global scale. This is just the beginning of what we’re committed to building together.”

"Innovation and fan engagement are at the heart of everything we do, and our partnership with Sofascore reflects both priorities,” said Jason Jazayeri, NHL Group Vice President, Business Development. “Together, we're unlocking ways for fans around the world to experience the NHL through new advanced stats, powered by NHL EDGE data. As the NHL continues growing globally, we're committed to meeting fans where they are and delivering experiences that make the game more accessible, insightful and exciting than ever before."
