Minnesota was coming off a 6-1 loss at the Dallas Stars on Saturday.
"It was something you want to forget right away and move forward," Koivu said. "We wanted to learn from it, and I thought we did that. I thought we responded really well."
Blues goaltender Carter Hutton lost for the first time in five starts and was replaced by Jake Allen to begin the second period after allowing three goals on eight shots. He allowed two goals on 123 shots and had two shutouts and a .984 save percentage his previous four starts.

The Wild scored six goals on 20 shots.
Jaden Schwartz and Dmitrij Jaskin scored for St. Louis (32-20-3).
"Goalies stand on their head for two months, and then we do that to them," Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo said. "Just disconnect all over the ice."
Schwartz gave the Blues a 1-0 lead 45 seconds into the game, but the Wild scored three goals in the first period, including two in 1:14.
Niederreiter tied it 1-1 on a shot from the slot at 2:02, Foligno made it 2-1 at 16:53, and Koivu scored on the power play at 18:07 to make it 3-1.

"[Dubnyk] made the saves when we needed them, and then we were able to get the puck to the net when we had a chance," Koivu said. "I thought that was good for the confidence, and after what happened last game, that was very important that we could get the lead."
Zucker scored with a backhand at 9:45 of the second period to make it 4-1, and Dumba's one-timer from the left face-off circle got between Allen's pads to make it 5-1 at 16:19.
Staal scored on the power play to put St. Louis ahead 6-1 at 5:05 of the third period.
Jaskin made it 6-2 at 12:36.

They said it

"It feels good, but I'm not satisfied with it and I want to be better. It's nice to be clicking as a line, but it's even better to get a win against a team like this." -- Wild forward Jason Zucker on tying his NHL career high for goals (22)
"I feel real upset about our game tonight. I feel really upset about this loss, not only about my game. But trust me, not one of us wants to play like this. We're trying hard. I know it's not enough now. Like I said, it's on us to find out what's going on." -- Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko
"Yeah, we can't ... that's disturbing, that's disappointing that we're coming out and ... the turnovers that we had in the first period, instead of making it hard on [Minnesota] and making it a really tough night, we didn't do that. We made it easy and we allowed them to get going. Yeah, that's something we've got to fix, obviously." -- Blues coach Mike Yeo
