Facts and Figures

Leon Draisaitl will try to become the first 100-point scorer in the NHL this season when the Edmonton Oilers play the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on Tuesday (10 p.m. ET; PRIME, SNW, NHL.TV).

The forward
leads the NHL
with 98 points (36 goals, 62 assists) in 62 games. He's 10 points ahead of David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins and 14 in front of Oilers teammate Connor McDavid, who's tied for third with Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche. Draisaitl is two points shy of his second straight 100-point season and leads the NHL with 30 multipoint games.
There have been seven instances in the past 20 years of a player reaching 100 points in fewer than 70 games. Draisaitl would be the second player in as many years to accomplish that feat. Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning did it in 62 games last season.

Blue Jackets back in playoff position after OT win

The Columbus Blue Jackets moved back into a Stanley Cup Playoff position when Emil Bemstrom scored with 25 seconds remaining in overtime for a 4-3 win against the Ottawa Senators at Nationwide Arena on Monday.
Columbus (31-19-14) is tied with the New York Islanders (35-20-6) for the first wild card into the playoffs from the Eastern Conference, two points ahead of the Carolina Hurricanes (35-22-4), after its fifth consecutive home victory against the Senators. The Blue Jackets ended an eight-game winless streak (0-3-5)
Joonas Korpisalo made 14 saves in relief of Elvis Merzlikins to get the win in his first appearance since injuring his knee against the Chicago Blackhawks on Dec. 29. He is 7-0-3 in his past 10 decisions.

Bemstrom is the eighth rookie in Blue Jackets history and second this season to score an overtime goal, joining Alexandre Texier on Oct. 7. It's his third game-winner of the season; the team record for a rookie is five set by Boone Jenner in 2013-14.

Trade Deadline recap

There were 32 trades involving 55 players made Monday prior to the 2020 NHL Trade Deadline. That's the most trades ever on deadline day (since 1979-80), one more than the 31 made in 2009-10.

The Hurricanes and Senators were among the busiest teams, for different reasons.
Carolina, which is competing for a playoff berth, was a buyer, acquired center Vincent Trocheck from the Florida Panthers and defensemen Sami Vatanen from the New Jersey Devils and Brady Skjei from the New York Rangers. The Senators, who are next to last in the East and 18 points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs for third place in the Atlantic Division, added to their trove of draft picks by trading forwards Vladislav Namestnikov to the Avalanche, Jean-Gabriel Pageau to the Islanders and Tyler Ennis to the Oilers.
