Penguins' Porter out for season

Pittsburgh Penguins center Kevin Porter will be out the remainder of the season after having ankle surgery Friday, coach Mike Sullivan confirmed.
"It's a longer-term injury, probably around the 12-week mark," Sullivan told the Post-Gazette. "So it's a tough setback for him and for us."

Porter, who has three assists in 41 games this season, sustained the injury in the 4-1 win against the New York Rangers on Thursday when he got tangled up with Rangers left wing Viktor Stalberg early in the first period.
Sullivan also confirmed forward Evgeni Malkin, who scored his 25th goal of the season Thursday and had two assists, had a maintenance day Friday.
Pittsburgh, currently the second wild card into the NHL Playoffs from the Eastern Conference, hosts the Calgary Flames on Saturday (3 p.m. ET; SN, ROOT, NHL.TV).
