Spence contract with OTT

Jordan Spence signed a four-year, $20 million with the Ottawa Senators on Friday. It has an average annual value of $5 million.

The 25-year-old defenseman had an NHL career-high 31 points (seven goals, 24 assists) and averaged 18:44 of ice time in 73 games for the Senators this season. He had no points in four Stanley Cup Playoff games and could have become a restricted free agent on July 1.

Spence was acquired by Ottawa in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings on June 28, 2025.

"Jordan was an excellent addition to our hockey club and proved to be a valuable asset on our blue line and stepped up when it counted last season," Senators general manager Steve Staios said. "We're excited to have him as part of our core group."

Selected by Los Angeles in the fourth round (No. 95) of the 2019 NHL Draft, Spence has 92 points (15 goals, 77 assists) in 253 regular-season games for the Kings and Senators and two points (one goal, one assist) in 17 playoff games.
